The Best Games for Family Game Night
With work, school and long to-do lists, it can be difficult to get the family together for quality time. (Not to mention getting everyone off their cell phones!) A simple solution? Game night! Toy Insider Mom Laurie Schacht shows off her top game picks toWoman's Daysenior editor Taryn Mohrman.
Family game night begins withNeck of the Woods. If you're a fan of Jenga, this stackable game promises loads of fun. In the game, players need to stack up the giraffes so they can reach the leaves on top of the tree. A roll of the die determines which piece you'll use for stacking, and the person who reaches the highest point on the tree gets the most points. Beware though, if your pieces fall or tumble, you'll have the start all over again.
For an even more hands-on game, Toy Insider Mom also recommendsFish, Fish, Squish! In this one, the fun starts even before the game does, with moldable game pieces. That's right—kids can build the actual game pieces. Once that's set up, everyone's job is to 'squish or be squished.' In the card deck provided, if you get three of the same cards in a row, you get to "squish" an opponent's fish. "The last one with an unsquished fish standing is the winner," says Toy Insider Mom. Game on!
