Bowker Maserati unveil new Levante
Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne recently spoke of the prospect of a prancing horse SUV. His exact words were: “You have to shoot me first.”
Luckily the brand’s luxury arm Maserati are exempt from such staunch words and after many leaks and early design offerings, official images of the Levante SUV have now landed ahead of the Geneva Motor Show debut.
The Maserati Levante will be the Italian marque’s first ever SUV and continues the growing trend of luxury soft-roaders from Bentley, Lamborghini and Porsche. Maserati says that the first few models have already rolled off the line whilst the car’s global launch will come later in 2019.

Specs are slim at the moment but a Maserati leak has indicated that there will be a petrol and diesel variant in a 2.9-litre V6 format. TheAutoweekreport also claims that power will be rated at 430hp for the petrol engine and 275hp for the diesel. Other sources have pointed to a performance version which will see a borrowed Ferrari 3.8-litre V8 with at least 500hp.
Power will be delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car will be manufactured in Maserati’s Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy.
